Two more Washington fruit shippers have been honored for their support of the Produce for Better Health Foundation and its efforts to increase produce consumption.

Chelan-based Chelan Fresh Marketing and Selah-based Rainier Fruit Co. have been designated as Fruits & Veggies — More Matters Role Models by Wilmington, Del.-based PBH, according to a foundation news release.

They join fellow Washington fruit shipper Stemilt Growers Inc., Wenatchee, which received the honor in March.

Concord, Mass.-based fruit juice and snack maker Welch’s also was selected as a Role Model.

Elizabeth Pivonka, PBH’s president and chief executive officer, said in the release that Chelan Fresh, Rainier and Welch’s had gone “above and beyond” in their long-term support of the foundation and the More Matters message.

In addition to Stemilt, PBH in March named four retailers as role models: Eden Prairie, Minn.-based Supervalu Inc., St. Louis-based Schnuck Markets Inc., Pleasanton, Calif.-based Safeway Inc., and Salisbury, N.C.-based Food Lion LLC.

Chelan Fresh and Rainier will be honored at PBH’s board of trustees meeting April 10 in Half Moon Bay, Calf.
