The upcoming peak of Chile’s avocado season has brought another advertising campaign targeted at North American consumers.

Chile rolls out new fruit TV campaign

The television advertising schedule, launched Jan. 25, continues into April, according to a news release. It is funded by the Chilean Exporters Association, Santiago, and ProChile, the country’s export promotion bureau. The commercials will be aired in markets that reach 83% of U.S. and Canadian households, the release said.

The 30-second commercials promote not just avocados, but also feature other Chilean fruit crops, including grapes and blueberries. The commercials offer participating retailers 5-second identification tags in return for in-store promotions.

“We have many creative promoters among our partners in retail,” Tom Tjerandsen, managing director-North America for the Chilean Fresh Fruit Association, Sonoma, Calif., said in the release. “We marvel at the multitude of ways that retailers choose to ensure that they take full advantage of our television support.”

Merchandising and sales tool are available on the association’s Web site, www.chileanfreshfruit.com.
