Chiquita Fresh North America LLC, Cincinnati, has ended its “Tropical Getaway Sweepstakes.”

Chiquita ends sweepstakes, continues with consumer engagement

The sweepstakes ran from Aug. 3 to Oct. 31 and featured the grand prize trip for four to Costa Rica, with 10 first prize winners awarded an assortment of Chiquita banana promotional items, according to a news release.
 
The promotion used in-store displays, point-of-sale materials, and a yellow promotional sticker on the bananas to direct consumers to Chiquita’s Web site, according to the release.
 
Chiquita Fresh North America is a subsidiary of Chiquita Brands International Inc.
 
“As part of our overall banana marketing campaign, Chiquita utilized an innovative consumer sweepstakes linked to our new web site to help drive awareness of the health benefits of our premium bananas, as well as generate excitement and fun around our retailers’ banana displays,” said Craig Stephen, vice president and general manager, North America bananas, in the release.
 
The new Web site, chiquitabananas.com, and its companion, eatachiquita.com, are part of the company’s strategy for ongoing consumer interaction by targeting different demographics, according to the release.
