Just in time for the year end holidays, Columbia Marketing International Corp., Wenatchee, Wash., has unveiled a new retail display for pears.
The stand alone display features several pear varieties and a spin wheel that permits shoppers to match each variety with compatible combinations of wines and cheeses, said Bob Mast, vice president of marketing.
âWeâre trying to capture an audience that isnât necessarily picking up pears on a daily basis,â he said. âWeâre trying to make pear buying fun, trendy and interesting to think about pears in different ways and using the fruit with wines and cheeses.â
The display is versatile in that it may be placed anywhere in a store, Mast said.
âAnd the beauty of it is that everything ships in one unit,â he said. âIt includes two cartons of fruit, the display and even the shipping box is part of the display.â
The spin wheel displays are available to retailers in the U.S. and Canada. The company expects to ship at least 1,000 displays this season, Mast said.
