C&S Wholesale Grocers Inc., Keene, N.H., sponsored its 24th annual charity golf outing Aug. 4-5, raising $1.1 million for organizations that focus on pediatric cancer and childhood hunger.

Dedicated to the memory of former C&S president Ron Wright, who died from cancer this year, the event attracted 890 golfers and 300 sponsors, according to a release from C&S.

“Ron Wright was a guiding force behind our golf outing, and it meant so much to him to give back to kids,” said Rick Cohen, chairman and chief executive officer of C&S, in the release. “He’d be proud of what we’ve accomplished together this year.”

C&S provides distribution services to grocery chains and independent stores, delivering to about 4,600 locations from distribution centers in 11 states, according to the company.
