Allison Parker, director of consumer health and education for the Vienna, Va.-based U.S. Apple Association, has taken over leadership of the associationâs National Apple Month program.
Parker assumed her new duties Dec. 1. The position of National Apple Month director, held by Kay Rentzel, was eliminated for budgetary reasons, Parker said.
The association will discuss the direction of National Apple Month at a program committee meeting in March, Parker said.
The program is overseen by the association but is not funded by U.S. Apple membership dues or state assessments paid to the association.
Parker joined U.S. Apple in 2009. Before that, she worked as a nutritionist for Rochester, N.Y.-based retailer Wegmans Food Markets Inc.
