A Florida woman is the winner of a year’s worth of groceries from the Idaho Potato Commission and cheese maker Sargento.

Sandra Browne of Fort Lauderdale will receive $10,400 in free groceries for a year, according to a news release from the Eagle-based commission.

More than $20,000 in total prizes were awarded.

The contest ran from Jan. 8 to March 9 at Publix grocery stores in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee.

The promotion was a big success for the Idaho potato industry, with a record number of entries compared to comparable contests and a 17% sales boost during the contest, said Seth Pemsler, vice president of retail merchandising for the commission.

It was also a chance for Sargento to show off its new Potato Finishers line of cheese toppings.

More than 30,000 people registered online for the contest. Other prices included $1,000 and $100 Publix gift cards.
