July is national blueberry month, and Naples, Fla.-based Naturipe Farms is celebrating by sponsoring a retail display contest.

Naturipe Farms is advertising the contest in trade publications and direct mailings to retailers, but a spokesperson for the company said most of the company’s retail customers can expect to receive word directly as well.

“We’re putting a personal, one-on-one focus with our individual sales people,” said Robin Doran, director of communications with Naturipe.

Entries should include photos of blueberry displays measuring at least 16 square feet or larger. Entrants will be judged on size of display, creativity and cross-merchandising combinations. All displays must be in place a minimum of one week and include Naturipe Farms blueberries.

The grand prize winner receives airfare, hotel and entry to the Produce Merchandising Association Fresh Summit 2009 Oct. 2-5 in Anaheim, Calif.

Entries and photos should be submitted between July 6 and Aug. 15.
