Bags of sweet onions from Shuman Produce should be a little pinker than normal in October.

New onion packaging pushes breast cancer awareness

The Reidsvilla, Ga.-based company’s packaging should sport the pink ribbon, denoting support for breast cancer research and awareness, starting in October.

The program is part of a new partnership between Shuman Produce and the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation. The company plans to donate $10,000 to the foundation as part of the program.

“We are so excited to partner with Komen to raise awareness and the hope that we will one day find a cure to end breast cancer,” said John Shuman, president, in a news release. “We see this as a great opportunity to continue to support cause-marketing programs that make a difference in the lives and communities of our customers.”
