The Oppenheimer Group has added a retail and wholesale veteran to its Seattle sales office.

Oppenheimer hires retail veteran for sales spot


Barney Gilman, who worked most recently at wholesaler United Grocers of Seattle, joined Vancouver, B.C.-based Oppenheimer Nov. 3, according to a news release.

Gilman worked for 12 years at United Grocers, the last eight as a buyer. Before that, he was a produce manager for Bellingham, Wash.-based Thrifty Foods and other Washington retailers.

Oppenheimer also recently gave two longtime employees additional duties. Roger Aguirre, sales manager of the Seattle office, is now also West Coast pipfruit category manager.

Tran Nguyen, a sales and business development representative in the company’s Los Angeles office, is now also West Coast mango category manager.
