The Twitter page for the Produce for Better Health Foundation has surpassed 2,000 followers as of the end of August.

“Social media marketing is a great way to connect with people and give them the help they need to add more fruits and vegetables to their meals and snacks,” Elizabeth Pivonka, president and chief executive officer, said in a news release.

Aside from the casual consumer, PBH’s Twitter followers range from industry members including Pandol Bros. Inc. to groups like the American Cancer Society to newspapers like USA Today. The page is also included on 161 nutrition- and produce-related Twitter lists.

PBH started the page last year, when it also started a Facebook page, currently with more than 600 fans, and created some YouTube videos. More recently, PBH staff has been joining LinkedIn and added a Nutrition Education Catalog Facebook group, all in hopes of making Fruits & Veggies — More Matters more recognizable.
