A $15 million TV advertising campaign launched by Wonderful Pistachios is already paying dividends.

Two of the company’s eight “Get Crackin’” commercials place in the top ten in research conducted by The Nielsen Co., New York, according to a news release. The research, which evaluated new commercials from Sept. 21 to Oct. 18, ranked the advertising messages based on viewer surveys for likeability and recall, according to the release.

A Wonderful Pistachios’ commercial featuring Lauren Caitlin Upton, a former Miss South Carolina Teen USA, was the fifth-most-liked new commercial while another featuring prankster Wee-Man from the TV show “Jackass” ranked ninth-most-recalled new advertising message, the release said.

“As we move into the entertaining-filled holiday season — a popular time for a very social nut — we’re thrilled that Wonderful Pistachios will be top-of-mind while consumers hit the produce aisles at the grocery store,” Dominic Engels, vice president of global marketing for Paramount Farms, said in the release.

Wonderful Pistachios are grown, processed and packed by Los Angeles-based Paramount Farms.

Other celebrities appearing in the commercials include Olympic medal-winning swimmer Dara Torres, Christopher Knight, from the 1970s sitcom “The Brady Bunch,” and Vincent Pastore, who starred in “The Sopranos.”

Paramount launched the campaign Oct. 5 and it continues through December. The commercials, which focus on the nut’s low-calorie, low-fat content, have been airing with programs including “Monday Night Football,” “Late Night with David Letterman,” “Saturday Night Live” and “The Office,” according to the release.
