The Produce for Better Health Foundation has released a new retail tool kit to help supermarkets celebrate the new Fruit & Veggie of the Month program.

The Wilmington, Del.-based organization said in a news release the market materials, accessible to licensed retailers online via username and password, include recipes with photos, consumer columns and advertisement slicks corresponding to commodities the organization highlights on its Web page,, as well as in PBH news releases and in recipe blogs.

PBH has placed marketing material corresponding to April, May, June, July and August’s Fruit & Veggie of the Month online, and plans to add other materials for the rest of the year.

Fruit & Veggies of the Month for the rest of the year: 

  • June - blackberries & corn
  • July - strawberries & eggplant
  • August - grapes & tomatoes
  • September - honeydew & cucumbers
  • October - apples & bok choy
  • November - cranberries & turnips
  • December - tangerines & leeks

Elizabeth Pivonka, PBH president and chief executive officer, said in a news release the tool kit is just in time for summer promotions.

“We encourage PBH's licensed retail donors to use these promotional materials in their ad circulars and in-store signage,” she said in the release.

“Using this information in conjunction with the PBH Fruit & Veggie of the Month schedule capitalizes on PBH's simultaneous promotional efforts, but retailers should feel free to use them anytime throughout the year. These materials are completely customizable, allowing retailers to add their own logo, store address, or other information.”
