Tanimura & Antle, Salinas, Calif., is partnering with the Association for Dressings and Sauces in May to celebrate National Salad Month.
The partnership means Tanimura & Antle's Artisan Lettuce and National Salad Month will be featured in California grocery stores' promotions, said Diana McClean, marketing project manager for Tanimura & Antle.
"Being a lettuce producer and having promoted our work with Artisan Lettuce, this is a good partnership for us to get some publicity on National Salad Month," McClean said.
McClean said it's the first time Tanimura & Antle, one the country's largest independent lettuce growers, has worked with the association in a partnership the company approached the association about. Raising awareness about National Salad Month, McClean said, is meant to encourage people to eat more salads and understand the health benefits of salad consumption. Â
Tanimura & Antleâs Artisan Lettuce was featured in a series of TV segments this month about healthy eating habits for women to celebrate Womenâs Health Month, the company said in a news release.
The Association for Dressings, a trade association, launched National Salad Month in May of 1992, in response to a 1991 Gallup Poll that revealed that three out of four people eat a tossed salad at least every other day.
