(UPDATED CONTENT, April 21) Mann Packing plans to show its newly expanded Snacks on the Go! product line at the United Fresh Produce Association convention in New Orleans.

Salinas, Calif.-based Mann’s display will be in the Grower-Shipper Association of Central California pavilion, booth 811 at the May 2-5 convention.

The line was chosen by United Fresh as a semifinalist in its new product award competition within the Best New Vegetable category.

The fresh-cut fruits and vegetables come in three packages: trays, multipacks and triplets. The multipacks and triplets are new, increasing the line from five to 12 products.

Tray sizes have gone from eight ounces to six ounces to reach a lower price, said Elena Hernandez, Mann Packing marketing coordinator.

“We’ve taken that original product and brought it down to a smaller size to reach a $1.99 price point, to reach those consumers who are looking for convenience and health at a lower cost,” Hernandez said.

Among the ingredients in various products are apple slices, carrots, sugar snap peas, celery, broccoli, grape tomatoes and dips.

The five trays can be used as meal replacements, Hernandez said.

The four triplets include three tear-away packages, and the three multipacks will be marketed as lunchbox or backpack treats, targeting the workplace and school.

“It’s adding variety to fresh-cut vegetable snacking items,” Hernandez said.
