Danny Wegman, chief executive officer of Wegmans Food Markets, received an award for his lifetime contribution to the retail food industry.
Wegman was one of two recipients of the Roger Milliken Lifetime Achievement Award from the Voluntary Interindustry Commerce Solutions Association.
Wegman has been in his current position since 2005, but originally joined Wegmans in 1964 and served as president for almost 30 years, according to a news release. He has served as chairman of both GS1 US and GS1 Global, according to the release.
The Voluntary Interindustry Commerce Solutions Association creates standards in retail and consumer-focused industries in an effort to improve those industries and minimize the wasting of time and money, according to the release.
