Frontera Produce has promoted vice president of finance and administration Amy Gates to executive vice president.
Gates, who joined Edinburg, Texas-based Frontera Produce Ltd. as its chief operations officer in 2004, became a member of the grower-shipperâs executive staff in early August.
In an Aug. 3 news release, company officials lauded Gatesâ contributions to the company, which grows and markets produce from North America, Central America and South America.
âAmy has been an integral part of Frontera Produceâs growth,â Will Steele, Fronteraâs president and chief executive officer, said in the release.
âAmy is one who leads by example and manages people with the utmost fairness and respect,â he said. âThroughout her seven-year tenure with Frontera, she has consistently proven that she has the companyâs best interest at heart and always strives to make the environment better for the Frontera team.â
During her years with Frontera, Gates developed corporate structure and accountability policies and helped grow the companyâs sales through cost management, new technology and through increasing internal and external communication, according to the release.
Gates, who earned a marketing degree from the University of California-San Luis Obispo, formerly worked for Famous Software LLC, Fresno, Calif.
Frontera officials brought her into the company because of her information technology and marketing background to help Frontera better manage its business flow.
Frontera grows and ships a wide variety of produce, including onions, hot peppers, melons and pineapples from Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Mexico, Costa Rica, Brazil, Ecuador and Peru.
Frontera opened in 1992. It started consumer-focused marketing in 2009.
