Gary Fleming, vice president of industry technology and standards for the Newark, Del.-based Produce Marketing Associationâs last day at PMA is set for Nov. 3.
With his wife Charla, Fleming plans to open a consulting firm called Symbolon Group in Denver, where the couple lives. He said they will focus on supply chain efficiency and facilitation work similar to his work on the Produce Traceability Initiative.
His last day will be presenting the PTI at a PMA Fresh Connections event in Charlotte, N.C.
âI may continue to do some work with PMA,â he said, but nothing had been finalized.
Julia Stewart, PMAâs public relations director, said Fleming was a great asset and PMA wishes him well. She said it was too early in the process to say if or when PMA would fill Flemingâs position, but the PTI will continue to be a focus of PMA.
