(Nov. 21, 1:11 p.m.) The Nogales, Ariz., location of Los Angeles-based the Giumarra Cos. is offering two new melon varieties this season, said Nick Rendon, division sales manager.

Giumarra has added Summer Sweet Tuscan-style cantaloupes and Sweet Pearl personal watermelons. Both are marketed under the company’s Nature’s Partner label.

The melons are grown in Hermosillo and Guaymas in Sonora, Mexico. Summer Sweets started shipping in early November and volume was winding down by the end of the month.

Sweet Pearls became available in mid-November and should continue until mid- to late December, Rendon said.

Giumarra also ships seedless watermelons, honeydew melons, English cucumbers, green bell peppers and assorted chili peppers from West Mexico.
