(May 16) The Newark, Del.-based Produce Marketing Association’s Education Foundation on July 13 plans to sponsor a golf tournament benefit for the Nucci Scholarship of Culinary Innovation.

The tournament is scheduled to be in connection with PMA’s Foodservice Conference & Exposition in Monterey, Calif., according to a news release.

Established in 2005 in memory of Joe Nucci of Salinas, Calif.-based Mann Packing Co. Inc., the scholarship program offers students and faculty from the Culinary Institute of American and Johnson & Wales University a chance to learn about the industry first-hand, by partnering each student with an industry professional who will serve as an advisor throughout the conference, according to the release.

“This experience is an ideal way to engage and teach the next generation of chefs and foodservice professionals innovative and flavorful ways to integrate produce,” said Lorri Koster, co-chairwoman of Mann Packing and sister of the late Joe Nucci, in the release.

The registration deadline for the tournament is June 29.
