(Dec. 8) Vickie Root, executive director of the Elizabeth-based Colorado Onion Association, has been succeeded by Tanya Fell.

Root, who was the association’s executive director since its inception in 1996, has stepped down to pursue a real-estate career, Fell said. She resigned Nov. 1.

Fell said she jumped at the opportunity to get involved with the onion industry again because she enjoyed her previous seven-year experience at the Greeley, Colo.-based National Onion Association, as its director of public and industry relations and missed the business and relationships she established.

“The biggest and most important thing is that I’m so happy to be back in the onion industry again,” Fell said. “They are such gracious and wonderful people to work for.”

In addition to her responsibilities as executive director Fell is establishing a consulting firm, Fort Collins, Colo.-based Aynat Consulting, and is doing consulting, marketing, retail relations and sales for LaSalle, Colo.-based Strohauer Farms, she said.

Previously, Fell was the vice president of the Mission-based Texas Produce Association.
