A key policy maker from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and two power brokers on Capitol Hill have been tabbed for speaking engagements at the Sept. 14-16 United Fresh Produce Association’s Washington Public Policy Conference.

Headliners booked for WPPC

Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Kathleen Merrigan will speak at the conference’s Sept. 15 keynote general breakfast session, according to a news release from Washington, D.C.-based United Fresh.

Meanwhile, Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., will talk with conference attendees at a Sept. 15 luncheon and House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, will attend the United FreshPAC dinner, a fundraising event for the association’s political action fund also scheduled for Sept. 15.

United Fresh president Tom Stenzel said the speakers are key figures in the national debate about locally grown food, energy, climate change, food safety, immigration and child nutrition.

“Having this caliber of lineup to address many of these important issues, the Washington conference provides our attendees the tools needed to continue tackling these issues,” he said in the news release.
