(April 19) Potato and cabbage shipper Hollar & Greene Produce Co. Inc., Boone, N.C., is selling a new specialty variety of cabbage called Highpoint Sweet cabbage, said salesman Tim Greene.

The cabbage has a conical shape, tender leaves, a sweet flavor and a nutritional content similar to green cabbage, which is a good source of vitamin A.

Greene said Highpoint is more tender than savoy cabbage and nearly as tender as lettuce, with slightly more rigidity. It is no-ticeably less crunchy than green cabbage, he said.

Hollar & Greene packs the new cabbage in Eurostyle store-ready 20-pound boxes of 12 heads. The first cases were shipped from Florida to wholesalers and retail-ers in the Midwest and North-eastern U.S. in late March.
