(Oct. 16) LIVERMORE, Calif. —iTradeNetwork has taken its logistics module into the stratosphere. Literally.

The company is now using a fully automated global positioning satellite tracking system with improved appointment scheduling as part of its logistics system.

Chief executive officer Rob Bonavito said the new additions will help streamline the pickup process and allow for improved efficiency by making data more accessible and easier to use.

“With this logistics system, we’re doing more than 20,000 loads a month with 350 carriers,” he said. “Now we’re providing a single point of data collaboration between the supplier, cross-dock, carrier and buyer, allowing all four parties to collaborate in real time.”

In other words, he said, the carrier can schedule an appointment with the other three parties simultaneously and track all of their information on the same system.

Earlier this year, iTradeNetwork added electronic data interchange capabilities to its platform, giving the user another data entry option on the same system at no extra cost.

In other news, the company recently received a purchase order from Natural Selection Foods, San Juan Batista, Calif., for iTradeNetwork’s procurement and logistics platforms.

“Our products are sold in most major supermarket chains in the U.S. and Canada,” Charles Sweat, Natural Selection’s chief operating officer, said in a news release. “We are able to respond to customers’ orders in real time using iTradeNetwork.”

iTradeNetwork also recently signed Giumarra Cos., Reedley, to its roster of firms that are fully integrating its procurement and logistics platform into their existing systems.

This latest move comes during a year in which the company already has signed deals with such industry heavy hitters as A. Duda & Sons Inc., Oviedo, Fla.; DNE World Fruit Sales, Fort Pierce, Fla.; Sunkist Growers Inc., Sherman Oaks, and The Oppenheimer Group, Vancouver, British Columbia.

Bonavito said iTradeNetwork’s customer lineup has reached more than 1,700 companies, including Albertsons Inc., Boise, Idaho; The Kroger Co., Cincinnati; H.E, Butt Grocery Co., San Antonio; Castellini Co., Wilder, Ky., Dole Food Co. Inc., Westlake Village, Calif., and others.
