KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City, Kan.-based Liberty Fruit Co. Inc., had its most successful golf tournament, donating $325,000 to charitable organizations.

The 11th annual Liberty Fruit Children’s Mercy Hospital Benefit Golf Tournament was at Tiffany Greens Golf Club, Kansas City, Mo., Sept. 20.

Donations from the proceeds went to Kansas City-area organizations:

*$275,000 to Children’s Mercy Hospitals & Clinic;

*$15,000 to Armourdale Renewal Association;

*$15,000 to Little Sisters of the Poor;

*$10,000 to Jewish Family Services; and

*$10,000 to spina bifida research through Children’s Mercy Hospitals & Clinics.

Scott Danner, chief operating officer of Liberty Fruit, said he and the Caviar family, company owners, were encouraged that high-level donors increased from 12 to 19 despite the struggling economy.
