As part of its corporate responsibility program, Burger King Corp. is adding a children’s breakfast of a muffin sandwich with BK Fresh Apple Fries and apple juice, according to a news release.

Burger King offers three other BK Kids Meals that meet their more healthful criteria, all of which include BK Fresh Apple Fries, the release said.

None has more than 560 calories or more than 30% of calories from fat, in addition to meeting other corporate guidelines. Burger King pledged to restrict its national advertising targeted to children under age 12 to only the children’s meals that meet the criteria.

Cashmere, Wash.-based Crunch Pak has the exclusive license to sell BK Apple Fries to retailers, but it does not currently sell to the restaurants, said Tony Freytag, Crunch Pak’s marketing director.

Crunch Pak’s 2.5-ounce BK Apple Fries retail packages are in about 1,000 stores nationwide.
