(Sept. 3, 1:23 p.m.) Canadian shoppers in Ontario are being warned not to eat Fresh Obsessions brand sliced white mushrooms because they may contain the Listeria monocytogenes, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

Ravine Mushroom Farms Inc., Woodbridge, Ontario, the grower-shipper of the mushrooms, is voluntarily recalling the product, the agency said.

The mushrooms are in pre-washed, ready-to-serve 8-ounce packages. The lot code, which appears on the side of the package, is R12398, according to the Canadian agency. The mushrooms were distributed to retailers in Ontario but not to other provinces. No reported illnesses have been associated with consumption of this product.

Consumers and retailers may obtain more information by contacting the agency at (800) 442-2342.

The mushroom recall comes during a listeria outbreak in Ontario. At least 12 deaths have been linked to the outbreak, traced to a Toronto deli meat company.
