(Oct. 17, 4:40 p.m.) A vegetable that is a cross between broccoli and kale, a new dry salad kit and an extended line of mesh bagged onions, garlic, shallots and ginger will premiere in Natural Selection Foods’ brand Earthbound Farm’s booth at the Produce Marketing Association’s Fresh Summit in Orlando, Fla.

The San Juan Bautista, Calif.-based organic produce company hopes Broccolette, its cross between Chinese kale and broccoli, will inspire home cooks and chefs alike, according to a company news release.

The company is also extending its dry salad kit line, which previously included only Harvest Blend, a mix of baby greens, dried cranberries and walnuts. The new item, California Blend, is baby spinach mixed with wild blueberries and sliced almonds. Both kits are packaged in 4.9-ounce clamshells. Earthbound Farm’s dry kits do not include dressings.

The company additionally plans to show its baby Asian greens, which include baby spinach, red and green chard and mizuna.

Earthbound Farm’s October-released line of organic vegetables packaged in mesh bags will also get a spotlight at the PMA booth. The company has added boiler onions, white pearl onions, shallots and red pearl onions to the mesh bagged line, which only included dried garlic before, according to the release.
