(Feb. 27, 6:58 p.m.) Mario Flores, who has more than 13 years experience in management of fresh produce sales, commodity management and business development, has been named director of blueberry product management at Naturipe Farms, Naples, Fla.

With his new duties, Flores, who most recently worked as blueberry business manager for Driscoll Strawberry Associates Inc., Watsonville, Calif., will coordinate Naturipe’s global production trends, according to a news release.

He’ll also collaborate with the sales staff on account management, product flow into the market and sales growth.

“Mario has a lot of good experience with Driscoll,” said Brian Bocock, Naturipe Farms’ vice president of sales. “He understands the business on a global basis.”

“(Driscoll has a) model relatively similar to our model as far as sourcing of products,” Bocock said. “Our production is relatively similar. That will be a big advantage for him coming in. I’m very excited about him coming in and what he can add to the team.”

Among his 13 years in the produce business, Bocock said, were five years experience in production, operations and commodity management for blueberries.

“My experience with retailers, sales, logistics, packaging, growers and production is a great prelude to taking on this new position as director of blueberry product management,” Flores said in the release.

Flores will be based in Grand Junction, Mich. and will report to Bocock.

“Mario has a very kind and compassionate personality,” Bocock said. “He’s a team player and will fit very well with the culture we have here at Naturipe.”
