Vancouver, B.C-based The Oppenheimer Group is spending another year at the top of a list of Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies.

Oppenheimer awarded for company management

The award program, hosted in part by Deloitte and CIBC Commercial Banking, honors 50 applicants each year that go through an evaluation process, which includes consultation from the financial companies’ representatives to provide advice on the application presentation.

Oppenheimer received its initial award in 2001, and has requalified ever since, making it a Platinum Member for the third year in a row, according to a company news release.

An independent panel of judges selects 50 annual award winners based on company strategy, capability, commitment and return on investment, according to the 50 Best Managed Companies Web site

“Considering the complex nature of business in 2009, we are particularly honored to qualify,” said John Anderson, chairman, president and chief executive of Oppenheimer, in the release.

Anderson said the company was especially strategic in its approach last year, navigating through the tough economic times.

Kingsville, Ontario-based Mastronardi Produce Ltd. made it on the list for the first time this year. Other Canadian companies, including Winnipeg, Manitoba-based Peak of the Market and Toronto-based Gallop Logistics, are among past award recipients.
