(Oct. 19) VANCOUVER, Brit-ish Columbia — A California stone fruit industry salesman on Oct. 11 joined The Oppenheimer Group as West Coast stone fruit category manager.

Marc Serpa, who has 10 years of experience in the produce industry, will be responsible for directing Oppenheimer’s stone fruit category on the West Coast. He will be working out of the Visalia, Calif., location.

Serpa’s first priority in this po-sition is to increase volume by concentrating on the consistency and quality of Oppenheimer’s West Coast stone fruit offerings, according to a news release.

Serpa has an agricultural busi-ness degree from Fresno State University and was an inspector and buyer for Eden Prairie, Minn.-based Supervalu Inc. He also worked as an account devel-oper for Hemphill & Wilson Enterprises/Bari Produce LLC, Selma, Calif. Most recently, he worked for Ballantine Produce Co. Inc., Reedley, Calif., special-izing in selling and marketing of stone fruit and grapes.
