Because of the amount of interest generated by the Produce for Better Health Foundation’s proposed National Fruit and Vegetable Research and Promotion Board, the Wilmington, Del.-based foundation scheduled five additional Web seminars.

PBH adds Web seminars to explain promotion board

The seminars’ purpose is to explain the proposed promotion board to members of the fruit and vegetable industry, according to a news release.

Web seminar dates are:

  • May 15
  • June 10
  • July 8
  • Aug. 13
  • Sept. 2

All seminars are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. EDT on their respective dates.

The foundation is compiling feedback from the industry through October. The objective behind creating a promotion board is to develop a comprehensive campaign to increase consumption of all forms of fruits and vegetables in the U.S. The board, and the campaign, would be funded by first handlers and importers of fruits and vegetables through a proposed assessment of 0.046% on f.o.b. value, and would need about $30 million.

More information about the proposal is available at Sharese Alston, executive assistant for PBH, can be contacted at to register for a Web seminar.
