(Feb. 2, 9:40 a.m.) After a year in the works, The Perishables Group, Chicago, has launched a redesigned Web site with interactive features the company said will improve customer service and provide valuable feedback on the company's products.

The Web site, www.perishablesgroup.com, launched Jan. 19, will "establish a more interactive relationship with clients and people in the industry all around so we can provide them as much information as possible," said Kelli Beckel, the company's associate marketing manager.

In addition to a clean, modern design, the site provides relevant insights through a monthly newsletter and frequently updated overviews of department and category trends.

The Eye on the Market feature showcases products and trends breaking through in the industry, while the poll question gathers and displays feedback about hot topics within perishables, all of these new features to the site, Beckel said. Additionally, forums were created for the Perishables Group's technology and trade advisory boards.

The Perishables Group chief executive officer Bruce Axtman said the new site wasn't created in direct response to client request but said "the site is way to make it easier to have this dialogue with clients on a more consistent basis."
