(April 30) The Produce Marketing Association, Newark, Del., has enhanced its consumer Web site, aboutproduce.com, with the addition of areas for children and an "ask the experts" page.

In the "Produce Patch," children are introduced to four cartoon characters who take visitors on an interactive trip around a farm, provide coloring book pages online, and teach how to use produce in crafts and recipes. More kids' content will be available in coming months, according to a news release.

In the "ask the experts" section, customers' questions to the site will be returned within 10 business days. Also, a frequently-asked-questions page handles general questions.

Launched in September 2000, aboutproduce.com averages about 18,000 visitors per month, according to Lee Mannering, media communications coordinator for PMA. The site also received a bronze award in spring 2001 from the World Wide Web Health Awards Program.
