(Jan. 12, 12:40 p.m.) Deerfield, Ill.-based Pregis Corp., a supplier of protective packaging solutions, including foodservice packaging, is launching The Advantage Team customer service brand.

In challenging economic times, when other protective packaging suppliers are centralizing and consolidating customer service, Pregis is reinforcing its commitment to its customers by branding its regional approach.

“We see this time as important as any to get closer to our customers,” said Josephine Lee, Pregis’ director of marketing.

Lee said much of Pregis’ packaging products involves fresh produce.

“As part of our product line, we have products that wrap fruits and vegetables that protect them for the route along the supply chain,” she said. “We want to make sure that packaging gets delivered on time to make sure spoilage doesn’t occur.

“The Advantage Team can understand the needs (of customers) and act proactively to make sure they get the product they need at the right price.”

The Advantage Team foundation is built up five fundamental brand values:

Pregis operates seven customer service centers across the U.S. — three each on the West and East coasts, plus one in the Midwest. Regional centers are staffed by employees with an average of five-plus years with the company, adding to the knowledge base and ability to respond to customer needs.

“A specific service representative is assigned to each customer,” Lisa O’Donnell, director of customer service, said in a release. “We believe in having our staff in close geographic proximity to our plants, salespeople and customers.”

Pregis wanted to make sure it focused its service on deliverables that would be most beneficial to its customers.

“That’s what led us to The Advantage Team brand,” O’Donnell said.

Pregis operates 47 facilities in 18 countries around the world.
