Trading moderate. Prices slightly higher. Half-bushel cartons various yellow-flesh varieties 2¾-inch and up mostly $12.40, 2½-inch and up mostly $9.40-10.40, 2¼-inch and up mostly $6.40-7.40. Primary varieties: flameprince, laurel, monroe and o'henry. A few shippers are finished for the season.

SOUTHERN NEW JERSEY — Shipments (28-25-28) — Movement expected to increase as growers begin harvesting loring, bounty and contenders. Trading very active. Prices generally unchanged. Half-bushel cartons various yellow-flesh varieties including john boy, PF 17, bounty and loring 2¾- to 3-inch mostly $14.40, 2½- to 2¾-inch mostly $12.40, 2¼- to 2½-inch mostly $8.40-9.40, various white-flesh varieties supplies in too few hands to establish a market. Quality very good.

APPALACHIAN DISTRICT (MD-PA-VA-WV) — Shipments (7-11-21) — Movement expected about the same. Trading very active. Prices generally unchanged. Half-bushel cartons various yellow-flesh varieties including loring, bounty, PF 17, ernie’s choice, belaire 2¾-inch and larger mostly $14-15, 2½- to 2¾-inch including 2½-inch and up mostly $12, ½-bushel crates unwashed 2½-inch and up $15. Quality very good.

MICHIGAN — Shipments (0-1-2) — Movement was expected to increase later in the week of Aug. 8 as harvest of red haven variety becomes active. Unofficial prices from industry contacts half-bushel cartons various yellow-flesh varieties mostly summer serenade and rising star 2½-inch up mostly $16. Much of the early harvested fruit is being diverted to local farm markets.
