Cartons film-lined 24s mostly $12.50-13.55, film-wrapped 24s mostly $13.50-14.55, 30s (fairly heavy supplies) mostly $8.55-10.50. Quality variable. Unseasonably cold temperatures the week of Jan. 31 were expected to contribute to the spread of the sclerotinia fungus. Shippers expect damage between 10% to 20% in scattered fields through late February. Some shippers are picking premature heads in order to avoid additional loss from the fungus. Current pack outs are heavy to 30s. 24s are generally light weight.

Prices film-lined and film-wrapped much lower, others lower. Cartons 24s $9.45-10, 24s film-lined mostly $10.45-11.55, 24s film-wrapped mostly $11.45-12.75, 30s film-wrapped mostly $8.55-9.55. Quality variable. Unseasonably cold temperatures the week of Jan. 31 were expected to contribute to the continued spread of the sclerotinia fungus. Shippers report approximate 10% loss from the fungus in scattered areas in the Imperial Valley. Shippers continue to pack light weight 24s and an increasing amount of 30s in order to avoid additional loss from the fungus.
