Shippers expected light damage. A very wide range in quality, weight and appearance were expected as were increased problems with blister and epidermal peel.

IMPERIAL, COACHELLA AND PALO VERDE VALLEYS, CALIF. — Movement expected to decrease below the 18 units shipped the week of Jan. 31 to Feb. 6. Trading red leaf active, others fairly active. Supplies red leaf and boston light. Prices red leaf much higher, others higher. Carton 24s green leaf mostly $10.45-10.75, red leaf mostly $16.45-18.75, boston mostly $10.95-12.45. Quality variable. Freezing temperatures and high winds from Feb. 2-5 stopped harvest and left heads with blister and epidermal peel. Shippers expected lightweight heads and light damage to product.



OXNARD DISTRICT, CALIF. — Movement expected about the same as the 4 units shipped the week of Jan. 31 to Feb. 6. Trading early moderate, late active. Prices higher. Carton 24s green leaf mostly $12.65-14.65, red leaf mostly $18.65. Quality variable.
