(Jan. 28, 5:30 p.m.) The “Eat Smart for a Great Start” fall campaign by Produce for Kids, Reidsville, Ga., raised more than $162,000.

From Sept. 4 through Oct. 31, the participating retailers in the campaign partnered with 25 produce companies, making a monetary donation for designated produce purchases. The funds went to the Public Broadcasting System’s PBS KIDS program, according to a news release.

Participating retailers were Lakeland, Fla.-based Publix Super Markets, Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Meijer Inc., King Sooper, Denver, Price Chopper, Schenectady, N.Y., and Giant Food Stores, Carlisle, Pa.
