Stephan Dolbec, president of the Quebec Produce Marketing Association, is no member of The Beatles but he can still act like one.

At Montreal’s Queen Elizabeth Hotel, Dolbec and his wife participated in a spoof on John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s world-famous Bed-In at the hotel in 1969 as part of a video promoting the QPMA’s 63rd annual convention Aug. 19-21 in Montreal. This year’s theme is From Earth to Table.

Like all events organized by the association, the surroundings promise to be fabulous, the food great, the networking sensational and the extracurricular activities, from a breathtaking circus performance to a Polynesian beach party, tons of fun.

Dolbec, president of Patates Dolbec in St. Ubalde, Quebec, will join convention president Pascal Primiano in welcoming participants.

“It’s good for everyone in the industry to get together once a year for a weekend to share a drink, exchange information and discuss what we’ve accomplished in a relaxed atmosphere,” Dolbec said.

Attendees not into golf can go whitewater rafting or visit one of Montreal’s unsung attractions, the Biodome.

On Saturday morning, motivational speaker Carol Allain is scheduled to present a humorous talk on how different generations can coexist in the workplace.

The annual industry brunch will welcome new QPMA members and celebrate the beauty of the land that produces food for our tables.

Saturday’s second guest speaker will be Dr. Richard Béliveau, a renowned cancer specialist and co-author of two best-selling cancer-fighting books. He’ll speak on healthful eating as a key to good health.

The closing banquet will honor the QPMA’s industry Pillar for 2010, Robert Sawyer, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Metro Inc.
