(Oct. 23) After earlier campaigns to involve high-profile chefs like Wolfgang Puck and Thomas Keller, the California Raisin Marketing Board, Fresno, has unveiled a new advertisement series — one featuring Las Vegas, its showgirls, its chefs, its mayor and, of course, Elvis.

The ad, part of the two-year print campaign “Look Who’s Cooking with California Raisins,” features the California Raisins — the board’s trademarked, animated characters — and five Las Vegas chefs, Bellagio’s Grant MacPherson, The Mirage’s Bernard Ibarra, The Paris’ Olivier Dubreuil, Caesar’s Palace’s James Perillo and Kim Canteenwalla, formerly of The MGM Grand.

Designed to encourage chefs everywhere to use California raisins, the ad is scheduled to run in magazines like Gourmet, Bon Appetit and Food and Wine, as well as an array of food, food professional and women’s publications.

To accomplish this, the chefs created signature recipes, available at www.calraisins.org., featuring raisins. The creations range from Ibarra’s “gateau basque ‘Kalifornia,’” to MacPherson’s “composition of bobwhite quail, Tuscan white beans, California raisin tapenade,” to Dubreuil’s “veal roulade with nuts and California golden raisins.”
