(Feb. 19) IRWINDALE, Calif. — Ready Pac Produce has teamed up with House Foods American Corp., makers of House Hinoichi Tofu, to launch a Tasty Asian Salads promotion.

The nationwide promotion, which began in mid-February and was scheduled to last three weeks, features Ready Pac’s organic salads.

This is Ready Pac’s second big February promotion. The last week of January, Ready Pac teamed up with Markham, Ontario-based Linsey Foods for a five-week promotion of Ready Pac’s European-Style Salads and Et Tu Caesar salad kits.

“What we try to do across our various lines is look for partners that fit specific desires of target audiences,” said Bill Zinke, vice president of marketing for Ready Pac. “One thing we’ve found is that organic salad consumers like foods that are natural and high in protein. They are focused on great taste, as all consumers are, but they are also focused on healthful eating.”

Therefore, a promotion that featured Ready Pac’s five organic salads and House Hinoichi Tofu, one of the best-selling brands of tofu in America, made sense, Zinke said. The promotion coincides with the celebration of the Chinese New Year.

The promotion includes in-pack coupons for Ready Pac organic salads and House Hinoichi Tofu as well as recipes for Chinese Celebration Salad and Super Soy Salad.

“We’re targeting all consumers,” Zinke said. “Ethnic food has an exceptionally wide appeal. We want to take the tofu chicken salad concept to a mainstream flavor profile.”

Garden Grove, Calif.-based House Foods American Corp. is one of the largest manufacturers of tofu in the U.S. The company, which has teamed up with Ready Pac for other promotions, offers seven tofu varieties, including House Hinoichi.
