(Oct. 23) OVIEDO, Fla. — Rick Alcocer, formerly director of retail sales at Tanimura & Antle Inc., Salinas, Calif., was named director of fresh vegetable sales Oct. 1 for Duda’s fresh fruit and vegetable division.

Alcocer, who has 22 years of experience in the fresh produce industry, will be in charge of the company’s fresh and fresh-cut vegetable sales operations in Salinas; McAllen, Texas; and Belle Glade, Fla.

He will be based in Salinas and reports to Dan Duda, vice president of fresh fruit and vegetables.

Bob Gray, president of Duda’s fresh fruit and vegetable division, said Alcocer brings a strong knowledge of the fresh vegetable industry and will be responsible for further expansion of the company’s product lines.

Alcocer worked 14 years at Tanimura & Antle after spending eight years at Dole Fresh Vegetables Inc., Salinas, as Western regional sales manager. He currently serves on the Canadian Produce Marketing Association board of directors.

Alcocer is a graduate of the University of Southern California, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business, finance and marketing.

He and his wife, Annette, and their two children live in Monterey, Calif.
