(June 15) After 26 years with Roche Bros. Supermarkets Inc., Wellesley Hills, Mass., Paul Kneeland, the company’s director of produce and floral, is ready for a new challenge as the vice president of produce and floral for Kings Super Markets Inc., Parsippany, N.J.

Kneeland said June 12 that his resignation was effective June 15, and he planned to begin his new duties with Kings Super Markets on June 18.

Kneeland succeeds Dave Parrottino, who plans to retire after a 47-year career in the produce industry. Parrottino said he’s worked for Kings Super Markets for 17 years, and has served as vice president of produce and floral for about seven years.

Parrottino said he began his produce career with Pick-N-Pay supermarkets in Ohio. The company later was bought out by Finast Supermarkets, now part of the Ahold USA Inc, Chantilly, Va.

He said he was pleased to be part of the team that selected Kneeland as his successor.

“We’re excited to have Paul join our company,” Parrottino said. “We think he’s the guy to bring us to an even higher level.”

Kneeland has worked for Roche Bros. since he was 16 years old. He said the move to Kings Super Markets is a good opportunity for his career and his family, although it is difficult to leave Roche Bros. after 26 years.

“These people (at Roche Bros.) have become family — the people in the stores and at headquarters,” Kneeland said.

He said he also will miss the working with the New England Produce Council, from which he resigned his position as first vice president.

Kings Super Markets owns and operates 25 stores in northern New Jersey and one on Long Island, N.Y.
