Potato company RPE Inc. has opened a San Luis Valley, Colo., office, with a manager who knows the Colorado potato deal.

RPE opens Colorado office

The Bancroft, Wis.-based company on July 12 opened RPE-Colorado in Monte Vista with Shannon Casey as sales manager. Previously, he was president at Tan-O-On Marketing Inc., Albuquerque, N.M., which marketed potatoes from several Monte Vista growers. Shawna Casey will handle customer support at the office.

One of those growers is Hi-Land Potato Inc., which supplies RPE, according to a news release. Other growers who are supplying  RPE were not identified.

The Colorado office will handle sales of all RPE products, including the recently introduced Tasteful Selections line of specialty potatoes.

This is the fifth office RPE has opened in the last year, according to the release.

“We have made a conscious effort to expand our positions as a category leader and it is important to us to not only be close to our customers, but also close to our products,” said Russell Wysocki, president, in the release. “Our new Colorado office allows both.”

Tan-O-On Marketing Inc.’s Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act license was terminated in October 2009, according to Red Book Credit Services. Red Book and The Packer are owned by Vance Publishing Corp., Lincolnshire, Ill.
