The Oppenheimer Group, Vancouver, British Columbia, has added a produce sales veteran to its Tampa, Fla. office.

Sales veteran joins Oppenheimer’s Tampa operation

Peter Cole, who has worked in produce sales and operations since 2002, joined Oppenheimer on May 19.

While Cole is initially expected to focus on selling imported kiwifruit, apples and pears and Oregon cherries, he is to market a full line of products to retail, wholesale and foodservice customers throughout the Southeast through his procurement, operations, logistics and merchandising experience, according to a news release.

Cole succeeds Ken McGinnis, an Oppenheimer Southeastern representative who recently retired.

A Florida native, Cole has worked in inventory and port operations for Fresh Quest Produce, Pompano Beach, Fla., has overseen retail sourcing, merchandising and pricing for Coast Produce Co., Los Angeles, and was a repack manager, worked in quality control and as an account manager for vegetable, melons and berries in south Georgia and Florida for Rosemont Farms Corp., Boca Raton, Fla.

In the release, Cole said he was attracted to the opportunity to work for the full service marketer that possesses a strong industry reputation.
