(Oct. 20, 10:47 a.m.) Agriculture Secretary Ed Schafer has reappointed two members and appointed one member to serve on the Mushroom Council, San Jose, Calif.

Greg Sagan of Plymouth, Minn., is a new member, while Greg McLain of Gonzales, Texas, and Hank VanderPol of Blenheim, Ontario, were reappointed. Their three-year terms begin Jan. 1.

The council, which is monitored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Marketing Service, is composed of fresh market producers or importers who grow or import an average of more than 500,000 pounds of mushrooms a year.

The council administers a national promotion, research and consumer information program to maintain and expand markets for fresh mushrooms.
