Golden West adds cold storage facility

Golden West Produce, LLC., added a cold storage facility for the growing segment of the business, GW Farms, LLC.

The new facility will help extend the company’s supply into the late storage season while maintaining good quality, according to Troy Seward, owner and president of Golden West.

ProSource, Inc., the marketing and transportation entity that exclusively supports Golden West will also have a cross-dock option available this year.

Seward, along with Corey Griswold, Michelle Huff and Joe Albaugh, are owner/partners of ProSource.

Murakami updates machine for Potandon

Murakami, the growing organization that provides raw product and storage for Potandon Produce Co., Ontario, Ore., updated its sticker machine for the 2012-13 onion season.

The new machine is set to increase efficiency and productivity, according to Chris Woo, onion sales manager for Idaho and Oregon.

Ontario Produce Co. adds sweet onions

Ontario Produce Co., Ontario, Ore., is offering sweet onions this fall for the first time.

According to Bob Komoto, general manager, the onions will be marketed under the labels Rio Sweets and Wowie Sweets.

The company has also made routine updates to its equipment and facilities.

Snake River Produce adds sizer, weigher

Snake River Produce Inc., added a new sizer that should provide more accuracy, says Kay Riley, general manager.

“It’s the same as what we had, but quite a bit larger so we hope to do a more accurate job,” he said.

Snake River also added a new weigher and “should be able to do quite a few more 3-pound bags,” he said.
