HUDSONVILLE, Mich. — Miedema Produce Inc. is building the addition its executives have been thinking about for more than a decade.

The company is adding 46,000 square feet to its facility this year, complete with a new cooler, packaging and production rooms, and offices.

“This is something we desperately need,” said Todd Miedema, director of marketing. “We finally said we can’t wait anymore, we need to do this.”

The addition comes with five new docks and a loading area that helps maintain the cold chain, Miedema said. There will also be keyless doors throughout the facility.

“So the system and control will be improved,” Miedema said.

The company started packing radishes in the new plant June 7, Miedema said. Employees plan to make their moves over to the new offices in mid-July.
