(Nov. 29) The Alliance for Food and Farming has appointed Bryan Silbermann, president of the Newark, Del.-based Produce Marketing Association, to its board of directors.

The alliance, which announced the appointment Nov. 21, selected Silbermann at its November meeting.

“We feel fortunate to have someone of Bryan’s caliber on the board,” Matt McInerney, executive vice president of Irvine, Calif.-based Western Growers and the alliance’s vice chairman, said in a news release.

The alliance, formed in 1989 to educate the public about food safety and production issues, is comprised of about 60 agricultural groups, including commodity boards, farm groups, and individual growers and shippers.
